Privacy Policy

This page explains what information ExamCanada.online collects when you use the site, why we collect it, who can see it, and what control you have over it. Plain language, no dark patterns.

What we collect

We collect three categories of data:

  • Technical analytics — pages visited, approximate location (country/region), browser type, device type, and how you arrived (search engine, referring site, direct). This is collected through standard web analytics (Google Analytics or equivalent) and is aggregated, not identified to you personally.
  • Voluntary submissions — if you submit a question, share an exam experience, or contact us, we store what you sent. We don't require an account, name, or email to use the site itself.
  • Server logs — IP address and timestamp of requests to the site, kept short-term for security and abuse prevention.

We do not sell personal data, build advertising profiles ourselves, or share submissions with third parties for marketing.

Cookies and advertising

The site uses cookies for two purposes: keeping the site running (e.g. remembering your quiz progress within a session) and analytics (understanding which pages help users vs which don't).

We may also display ads through Google AdSense or a similar network. Ad networks use their own cookies to serve relevant ads and measure performance. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized ads at aboutads.info.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect how the site works (e.g. quiz progress won't be remembered between sessions) but you'll still be able to read all the content.

Who can access your data

  • Site operators — the small team that runs ExamCanada.online sees aggregated analytics and individual voluntary submissions (so we can moderate them).
  • Service providers we use — hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase), analytics (Google), and ad networks. Each has their own privacy practices, which apply when their services run on this site.
  • Legal authorities — only if required by valid legal process (court order, subpoena). We don't hand over data voluntarily.

Voluntary submissions

If you submit an exam experience, a question, or send us feedback, please do not include sensitive personal information: full name, contact details, ID numbers, addresses, or anything you wouldn't want a stranger to read. Published submissions may be edited for clarity, length, safety, or accuracy. We can remove your submission on request — use the contact page.

Data retention

Aggregated analytics are kept indefinitely for trend analysis. Voluntary submissions are kept as long as the related page is published. Server logs are kept for a short period (typically 30 days) for abuse prevention. We retain feedback / contact emails until they're acted on or no longer relevant.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and similar frameworks elsewhere, you have the right to:

  • • Ask what personal data we hold about you
  • • Ask us to correct or delete it
  • • Withdraw consent for analytics (by blocking cookies in your browser, or using opt-out tools above)
  • • Opt out of personalized advertising at the network level

To exercise any of these, use the contact page. We respond within a reasonable time and don't charge for these requests.

Children

The site is intended for users 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through the site, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update this page. Cosmetic changes (rewording for clarity) won't be flagged. If you want to track substantive changes, the file is in the public git history of the site.
